WHAT AN AMAZING SUMMER WE’VE HAD….. STILL HAVING?
No wonder visitors to New Zealand fall in love with the beauty of New Zealand.
We’ve had a number of overseas people sign to YachtShare in the past year and with weather like we’ve had this summer, i’m not surprised.
Sitting here today in the middle of May and the sun is shining brightly and we have plenty members out on the water and the YachtShare inquiries are still flowing in.
As kiwis we’re used to the summer having some pretty abrupt endings, but the weather is changing no doubt, so remember there’s still great boating to be had at least till the end of June
THERE’S A WHISPER ABOUT
FINALLY it appears that common sense may prevail and the Auckland on the Water Boat Show will be moved from it’s usual March date to one in September. Thus visitors will now be in a position to view the latest boating offerings prior to the boating season, enabling purchasing decisions to be made at the show or soon after…..it’s only a whisper at this point!
BOAT MARKET STARTING TO SHOW LIFE AGAIN
During this recession, it would be fair to say that boat buyers headed for the hills and hid their wallets… as a consequence enquiries to YachtShare for our Private Investor product ground to a halt and with the exit of a couple of the YachtShare boats, our fleet is feeling a bit skinny. We’re pleased to say that the enquiry rate on our Private Investor product has started to increase again as people are starting to feel more comfortable in making a purchasing decision…… so watch this space, we’re still hopeful of getting a 40ft yacht back into the fleet in the coming year...
Therefore if you or friends are looking to purchase a boat, please do call for a chat.. YachtShare Private Investor will save you thousands in boat costs every year and produce a return on capital.
Call Laurie today on 0800 366 828 to discuss!

SAILING AWAY WITH SUZANNE
Suzanne Bourke from Sailing Away sailing school has trained well over 100 people to sail this summer. Many required just a quick refresher on their skills developed some years back but also plenty were completed the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Coastal Skipper course giving them the ultimate RYA certificate.
Rule changes in Croatia / Turkey and Greece are now requiring a formal Skipper qualification for ownership or chartering of vessels and of course the RYA certificate is the worlds most recognized.
Suzanne is now taking her last bookings for this season before heading off to teach in Croatia for the winter. Call her today for the Queen’s Birthday weekend courses.

COLIN’S CORNER
A thank you to all members who enjoyed their summer with us and left our boats in great condition and kept us informed of any issues.
It’s been a great season so far and we’re pleased that everyone’s had such a great time with such great weather……. Apart from let’s say one issue of a broken arm…. There’s always a lesson to be had on the sea and with yachts, one is that you don’t help the boom across during a jibe. Our thanks to Coastguard, Great Barrier Police and YachtShare, Terry is on the mend and somewhat wistful. Colin
A SAND BAR
A sailor, after running aground on a sand bar, paid a passing fisherman fifty dollars to pull him off with his boat.
After he was off the bar, he said to the fisherman, "At those prices, I should think you could make a real living pulling people off night and day."
"Can't," replied the fisherman. "At night I haul sand for the bar."
